2024 Columbia University Master Capstone Thesis
My thesis aims to address the heightened risk of cardiovascular-related diseases among low-income Filipino Americans by implementing culturally tailored intervention practices. Drawing on a comprehensive framework rooted in Community Participatory Based Research, the study endeavors to evaluate the efficacy of culturally tailored interventions through a nuanced exploration of the cultural needs and preferences of the target population. Using a mixed-methods approach, including focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, and secondary data from the National Health Institute and US Census Bureau, the research seeks to identify effective strategies that resonate with low-income Filipino Americans, who face elevated cardiovascular disease (CVD) risks and limited access to resources.
